Our Background
Starting well before World War II as a commercial representation of the French railroads, the Rail Europe Group was created in its present form in 1991 when the wholly owned U.S. subsidiary of SNCF, the French National Railroad, merged with the North American arm of the Swiss Federal Railways. While it is still a subsidiary of the SNCF and the CFF (Swiss Federal Railways), Rail Europe is also the official North American representative for 60 European railroads, the latest addition being the 25 Train Operating Companies of Britain.
Over the past decade, Rail Europe has evolved into the largest distributor of European rail products, catering to both the leisure and the business traveler. Each year, more than one million American leisure and business travelers use one of our products.

Not only do we provide the famous Eurail Global Pass and Eurail Select Pass for travel in continental Europe, we offer a complete line of British products, plus point-to-point tickets on any route in Europe. We offer the most extensive line of European rail and rail-related travel products, covering 35 European countries. In addition to other exciting journey trains, we give you Eurostar, the new international standard in rail travel, which offers service between London, Paris and Brussels through the Channel Tunnel.

Our Service
Service is extremely important to us, and unique technology has been developed by the Rail Europe Group in order to meet the growing demands of the travel community.
Euronet, our proprietary reservation system, offers an on-line link to the European railroads' seat inventory. Euronet is currently used in Rail Europe's two reservation centers (in Portland, OR and Chicago, IL) in which hundreds of telephone sales representatives handle arrangements for travelers or travel agents. Moreover, 400 travel agency partner locations are directly connected to Euronet, which enables them to book and issue train passes and tickets within their premises.
Another example is our Automated Travel Information Service, accessible through this site or on our toll-free numbers (1-800-4EURAIL, 1-888-274-8724 or 1-800-EUROSTAR in the U.S..) Millions of callers can access fares, schedule, promotions and other product information.
